Dyn-O-mite Conditions at Sierra!

A foot of fresh snow and continuing snow showers means only one thing to this snow reporter - it's storm shreddin' time! As I dropped into one of my favorite black diamond trails, Dynamite, I had miles of fresh pow ahead of me and fresh beats in my headphones. The one and only Snoop Dogg was playing the soundtrack to my shred mission, which couldn't be more fitting as I had my mind on the POWDA, and the POWDA on my mind. Fresh tracks, powder pillows, and perma-grins! Aaaahhh storm shreddin' - it's good for the soul!

This is the winter I remember. Best of all, NOAA is forecasting more snow every single day throughout the next week! Stay tuned to and this blog as I'll be updating you all week as the snow piles up. Party on powder hounds!

Share Your Sierra - President's Weekend Edition

It’s been a beautiful, snowy holiday weekend at Sierra, with 3 inches of fresh snow in the last 24 hours! The clouds have cleared and now the sun is shining bright! I spent the morning checking out how much fun our guests have been having and came across some really awesome shred pics.

One of our Sierra family members, Tony Tucker snagged the coveted “golden chair” to kick start his Sunday Funday, showing off the fresh snow on top of smooth cords in West Bowl.

I also really enjoyed this shot from @noodlenelson from a park session yesterday on Upper Snowshoe. Speaking of terrain parks, The Alley and Smokey BoarderX are now open! Go check them out and don’t forget to tag your shred pics #sierraattahoe.
See you on the mountain!

Slopes are Extra Sweet on this 3-Day Weekend

Happy Valentine’s Day from Sierra! Come celebrate with fresh mountain air, sweets on the slopes, new terrain park features, and endless corduroy laps!

Fella’s, listen up! If you’re attached, bring your sweetie to the slopes and you’ll score some serious points – especially if you make it up here in time for our wine tasting! Local El Dorado wineries including Madrona Vineyards, Boeger Winery, and Lava Cap Winery will all be featured this afternoon outside on the Tiki Deck. Don't worry, there's another round of wine tasting lined up for tomorrow afternoon too!

If you’re single, then you’ll want to spend your 3-day weekend cruising through the singles lift lines to scope out all the Shred Betties tearin’ it up on the hill! Need some help with your chair lift game? I’ve got you covered with a few cheesy pick-up lines guaranteed to make her laugh. She might be laughing at you, but at least you’ll be half way there!

  • Do you believe in love at first sight? Or should I ski by again?
  • I wanna be the pizza to your french fries.
  • Looks like they have been doing avalanche control around here, because I just found me a bombshell!
  • I think my heart just did a double cork 1080 and got 15 feet of air out of my throat.

If these don’t do the trick, there are 4 simple words that are a surefire way to steal a Shred Betties heart, “I have a job!”

All jokes aside, conditions are incredible right now, we're planning to open up more terrain tomorrow and we'll be debuting a brand new park in The Alley as well! You've got a 3-day weekend ahead of you so get stoked and I'll see you on the mountain!

The 411 on Sunday's Conditions 2/9/14

We've received over 4 feet of new snow in the past 4 days and there is still a lot more on its way! Due to extreme accumulation of heavy snow in a very short amount of time is a recipe for high avalanche danger and falling trees. The safety of our guests is always our top priority, so we will only be spinning Easy Rider Express for today. Ski Patrol and mountain operations are working around the clock to assess terrain and prep the mountain for opening tomorrow. We do plan to open the resort for regular operations tomorrow Monday, February 10th conditions pending.

Show us how you are prepping for the upcoming powder days by tagging all your pics #powselfie and get stoked for some incredible days ahead!

Stormy Weekend at Sierra

The view is lookin’ pretty good at the base of Sierra, which sits up at 7200 feet in elevation. NOAA is forecasting lots of snow over the weekend with varying snow levels and strong winds. I’m stoked to report that it’s currently snowing hard and there are lots of smiling skiers and riders all around the mountain! Don’t let the nay sayers fool you; it is white and beautiful up here today!

So far this storm has brought in 19 inches of new snow and there is still LOTS more on the way! The past couple days I’ve been getting’ in some incredible buttery turns which has kept my stoke level very high. Check out the conditions from yesterday’s edition of The Goggles Don’t Lie.

The stoke level was high for this little one too! In between sledding hot laps, he built a rad snowman (with some help from his parents) and had an ear-to-ear grin while playing in the snow!

Winter is back, baby! Bring out your inner child and come play in the snow with us at Sierra!

Shoutout to Brian Walker Photography for capturing the magic today!
