Wowza. This was truly an opening weekend to remember! From swag giveaways to face shots to toasting to the season, there was definitely something for everyone! We’d like to thank each and every member of our mountain community for making it up to celebrate with us. And just in case you didn’t catch us this weekend, here’s a recap of what went down!

Feeding off the hype from the massive snow accumulation received in late-November, friends of Sierra arrived from far and wide to shred on the first day of the season. There were smiles-a-plenty in the lift line, and you could feel the electricity as first chair drew near! Coffee , Kind Bars , and limited-edition Sierra stickers were passed out to the hearty crew. We were stoked to give back to our loyal customers because it’s people like YOU that make Sierra what it is.

Opening Day Smiles

After much anticipation, it was game on. Grandview, Easy Rider, and Nob Hill lifts spun to get skiers + riders their first turns of the season. Hoots and hollers echoed throughout the mountain and we couldn’t help but return the hoots back to those powderhounds! It was something special to not only get that first skiing + riding fix, but to also get that powder fix in one weekend.

After skiing off some of the creakiness in those legs, we all shared a toast in the plaza to commemorate the beginning of an awesome season! Sierra Nevada Brewing Co passed out samples to wet the whistle and raise in the air. Not to mention, Sierra-at-Tahoe’s beloved General Manager, John Rice, reminded us why we come to this mountain. It’s an escape from the norm, a love of snow, and the comradery that comes with sliding down frozen water.

Opening Day Toast

The snow gods must have been listening, because Sierra received even more snowfall in the days after. This enabled Mountain Ops to open the coveted West Bowl: a well-earned treat for those of us who make skiing + riding a part of our livelihoods.

With only 4 days of clear weather in the 15 day forecast , this season is shaping up to be one for the books. That means that if you haven't come up to shred yet this season, make it your holiday mission!

Opening Day Customer
