Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort Enhances Base Area With New Plaza

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. October 21, 2013 – Sierra-at-Tahoe has invested $5 million into a new facility located at the base of the mountain transforming the current skier services area into a mecca for gathering and services that improve the overall skier/boarder experience. The new plaza will include a nine thousand square-foot sprung structure with retail options, indoor and outdoor seating, fire pit gathering areas, large deck area constructed from pavers, a venue for live music, events, and other activities; enhancing the overall mountain and après atmosphere and creating a contagious energy that makes the plaza the place to be this winter.

Located in the base area at the bottom of the Broadway trail, the plaza will be the nucleus of all Sierra Resort skier services. With close proximity to Easy Rider guests will have easy access to the mountain, reinforcing the hassle-free environment Sierra-at-Tahoe is known for.

Inside the new structure guests will experience nine thousand square feet of new indoor space. Included in the building will be a new equipment demo center and new retail shop offering the latest fashions from the ski and snowboard industries’ top brands. Additionally, a new restaurant,  “Solstice”, will showcase healthy, California food, local brews, and additional seating. The building will also include multiple flat screen televisions allowing guests to enjoy live sports and entertainment throughout the winter.

Outside, guests will be treated to an après atmosphere with a California twist. The new twenty thousand square-foot deck will give guests a place to kick back, relax, relish the California sun and enjoy fire pits, lounge chairs, table service, and live music; creating a slope-side après paradise. Other deck amenities will include a viewing area that allows friends and families to scan major trails such as Lower Main, Aspen, the Halfpipe, Broadway and Easy Street. The deck will also provide skiers and snowboarders with “grab-n-go” food options, so they can fuel up and get back on the mountain.

Sierra Resort is excited to give guests more seating, more retail options, and an enhanced après atmosphere ultimately improving the overall ski and snowboard experience.
