Jamie Anderson Wins ESPY for Best Female Action Sports Athlete

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif – July 12, 2012 On the 20th anniversary of the ESPN Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly (ESPY) Awards Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort team rider and professional snowboarder Jamie Anderson won the ESPY for Best Female Action Sports Athlete. In the 2011-12 season Anderson won gold at both Winter X Games Aspen and Winter X Games Tignes in Women’s Slopestyle. Anderson also defended her title in the Burton Global Open Series and the TTR World Snowboard Tour. Anderson was up against stiff competition for the award, including world champion surfer Carissa Moore, Gold medalist snowboarder Kelly Clark and skier Kaya Turski.

Born and raised in South Lake Tahoe, California, Jamie Anderson spent her youth learning to ride at Sierra Resort. Starting at an early age, Anderson participated in Sierra Resort youth programs such as Rippers, Sierra’s Development Program and the Sierra Snowboard Team. Today Anderson has built a reputation as one of the most solid and stylish riders on the professional circuit.
