Perfecting The Half Pipe

As of today, Sierra has reached over 300 inches of snowfall, more than doubling the snowfall total from last season!  Since El Nino decided to deliver, Sierra is happy to announce that this season we are bringing back our award-winning Half Pipe!  Our amazing park crew has been working on the pipe for the past week, and although they took a break this weekend to play in the pow (can you blame them?) the boys are planning on cutting the half pipe this coming week once the weather clears up!

Ridin' Dirty

Athletes Maddie Bowman and Kyle Smaine grew up riding Sierra, so you know our Half Pipe is too legit to quit if these guys call it home.  As a matter of fact, they both have been crushing it this week at the Winter X Games!  Not only have our athletes been riding the Pipe since they were wee lads, our crew has been cutting pipes and taking names since a young age too!

It's certainly not terrain park groomer Rob Giustina's first rodeo.  The photo on the left was taken in January 1995, while the photo on the right was taken January 2016.  The time span between these photos is equivalent to a newborn baby taking it's first drink...see ya in the pub!

Extreme Games

If you are looking for the leading ladies from Sierra-at-Tahoe this weekend, make sure you check a place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. A little place called Aspen.

Aspen will play host to the Winter X Games and Sierra Resort team riders Jamie Anderson, Maddie Bowman, and Hannah Teter will all try to land atop the podium. A place the ladies are all to familiar with.

Jamie Anderson, women’s snowboard slopestyle, is currently crushing the competition, like a fat kid would with cake. Anderson is a bit of a household name in Aspen and has won Winter X Game gold 4 times, including last season, and was the youngest Winter X gold medalist ever in 2007. Anderson will compete on Saturday, January 25, 2014.

Maddie Bowman, women’s ski superpipe, is also hot right now. Bowman has a leg up on the competition thanks to her technical skills, including both right and left 900s, making her more dangerous than a gun at a knife fight. Bowman has podiumed the past two seasons, including a win last year. She will get extreme in the stunt ditch this Friday, January 24, 2014.

No stranger to Winter X Games and big events, former Olympic gold medalist Hannah Teter, women’s snowboard superpipe, has her sights set on another podium finish at Winter X Games. Teter is determined to land on the podium with big amplitude and a run smoother than a baby's bottom. Teter will drop-in on January 25.

In addition to competing at X Games. All three athletes have been invited to the big dance in Russia in under a month. Get a sneak peak at their runs before they thrown them down at the winter games.
