Sierra-at-Tahoe Announces 2020/21 Opening Week for Season Passholders

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – November 24, 2020 – Thanks to recent snowfall and with the Thanksgiving holiday in mind, Sierra-at-Tahoe will open for the 2020/21 winter season on November 25, 2020. Sierra will begin winter operations on Wednesday, and to show our gratitude for our most loyal guests, early-season access will be exclusively for season pass and seasonal product holders at the place here Play Reigns Free through Sunday. Possessing a valid product does not guarantee access as parking will be limited, and is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

“The recent snow has gifted us with a winter playground,” says General Manager, John Rice. “Sierra is ready to welcome passholders back to their mountain home and give them the outdoor escape we have all been anxiously awaiting.”

While the essence of skiing and riding will remain unchanged, operational changes throughout the resort will be implemented to maintain an environment that allows for outdoor recreating, with safety precautions in place. Sierra is committed to the National Ski Area Association’s “Ski Well, Be Well” initiative as well as employing additional procedures specific to resort operations that can be found on Sierra’s How 2 Play page. The plan includes new expectations and protocols on cleaning, sanitization, mask use, distancing, and other safety related parameters. Further operational updates may be added to dynamically adhere to local, state, and federal guidelines, so guests are encouraged to stay informed by embracing the “Know Before You Go” spirit.

Limited services will be available, as lodges and indoor dining options will be closed under current capacity guidelines. Private lessons and rentals will be available in reduced quantities and advanced reservations for lessons are strongly encouraged.

We are grateful to return for another season to offer an experience that will allow guests room to roam while providing an outdoor environment for our winter family to enjoy.  With the entire winter season ahead of us, we look forward to opening up the opportunity to ski/ride to our daily visitors on November 30th, with contactless tickets available through our website.
