There’s just something about a powder day that gets the people goin! It’s in your own best interest that you're one of those people. I know you’re thinking, well how? How do I become one of those people? How do I know I’m prepared for the most unbelievable powder day of my life?! We’ve made you an ultimate pow day checklist… that’s how. Want to know why? Cause friends don’t let friends miss powder days, and we’re friends. For starters, grab that cellular + text SNOW ALERT to 29222 so that any time Sierra receives over 6” of fluffy white goodness, you’re one of the first to know!  We send out that alert before the sun says hello, giving you plenty of time to plan what “sickness” you miraculously came down with… sorry boss!

  1. Pow Skis or Board

Don’t have a pow setup? Head over to our demo center located by retail. Rent that pow setup that’s going to give you that ultimate experience filled with endless pow slashes all day long for just $77 for an entire set up or $60 for the skis/board alone.

  1. Steez

How do you achieve this steez? Your style of course. Having the correct gear to stay dry and warm on a pow day means maximum hot laps and maximum face shots.  You’ll need the essentials…

  • A Waterproof Jacket

Our Park Gnomies choose to rep their 686 Authentic SMARTY 3-IN-1 Form Jacket.

  • A Warm Neckie (facemask… I’m really just trying to make “neckie” a thing here)

Capture that sick face shot on camera, post it on social media with the hashtag #SATBSB and you have a chance to win a free Blackstrap face mask! That’s my go to neckie of choice on a pow day.

  • Mitts
  • Ski or Snowboard Boots (obvi)
  • Helmet
  • Bib
  • Base Layers
  • Goggles

You cannot go wrong with Oakley Prizm lenses… the lenses allow for a wider range of changing light conditions and define those ruts so that when you’re sending it in Huckleberry, you can call the smoothest line. I own three pairs… just saying. You can never have too many.

  1. Beacon + Probe + Shovel

Safety first!  Hitting some sick drops is always a must on a pow day… most of the time those drops are in areas you should always carry a beacon, probe + shovel.  Educate yourself on deep snow safety + avalanches so that you get the greatest pow stashes with minimal risk!

  1. Fuel

Food + hydration are key to keep going all day long!  Swing by Java in the morning and grab yourself a Bro-rito (Alec Bowman’s go-to) or throw some Huckleberry Jam on that toast before heading out the door… foreshadowing the solid jam sesh that you’re about to have in Huckleberry. Grab that Vapur water bottle while you’re at it.  Powder won’t be the only free refills you’ll be getting all day as there’s vapur refill stations all around the resort to keep you hydrated during your ride break.

  1. GoPro

Pics or it didn’t happen, come on! Who doesn’t love some footy for the boys.

  1. That "Let’s Get After It" attitude!

You’re about to snag some freshies… if your stoke levels aren’t high then let’s reevaluate what we’re doing here! A great attitude is essential to having some #CertifiedUnserious fun.  Roll up blasting some Eye of the Tiger or This Is Why I’m Hot by MIMS (that’s my pump up song… no shame) and get fricken after it bud! Let’er rip!
