SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – January 23, 2013 – Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort team riders and South Lake Tahoe locals Jamie Anderson, Maddie Bowman, and Hannah Teter will invade Aspen, Colorado, January 24-28, 2013 for the 17th Winter X Games. All three Sierra Resort athletes have pre-qualified for X Games and will shoot to make it back-to-back podiums.
Well-known for its commitment to both freestyle terrain parks and maintaining one of Lake Tahoe’s best Superpipes, Sierra Resort is proud to be home to some of the best athletes in the world.
Jamie Anderson, Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle, is coming off a strong early season, with victories at the US Grand Prix and Winter Dew Tour. Anderson has won Slopestyle gold at Winter X Games three times, including last season, and was the youngest Winter X gold medalist ever in 2007. With a large bag of tricks, smooth style, and consistent riding, she is a strong favorite heading into this years Women’s Slopestyle. Anderson will compete on Saturday, January 26, 2013.
Maddie Bowman, Women’s Ski Superpipe, also had a solid start to her 2012-13 campaign with a victory at the North Face Park and Pipe, US Grand Prix, and second place finish at Winter Dew Tour. Her technical skills, including both right and left 900s, make her a threat in any competition. After a second place finish in last year’s Winter X Games, she will look to improve and take the top spot. Bowman is set to compete on Friday, January 25, 2013.
No stranger to Winter X Games and big events, Olympic gold medalist Hannah Teter, Women’s Snowboard Superpipe, has her sights set on another podium finish at Winter X Games. Taking third place last year in Aspen, CO, Teter is determined to land on the podium again using multiple tricks and big amplitude. Teter will drop-in on January 26, 2013.
In addition to a strong athlete connection to Winter X Games, Sierra Resort has a longstanding relationship with SPT, the company responsible for designing and building all of the courses at Winter X Games. SPT provides Sierra Resort with training, guidelines, building resources and design ideas throughout the winter season. That same brainpower is now building and maintaining the Slopestyle, Big Air and Pipe for Winter X Games and contributes to Sierra Resort athletes training, and competing on the best freestyle terrain in the nation.
