I rode and worked at Sierra-at-Tahoe for 2 seasons, in 1995/96 and 1996/97. It was the best time on my board I've ever had. I went to so many resorts all over the world, but I never found a better one. The runs are great and the staff is very friendly. I just love Sierra-at-Tahoe!!!

Wow, armed with my great value season pass, and my demo Völkl skis, just had 15 days skiing - 13 at Sierra - and the BEST holiday ever. Been skiing since my 20s, started 1977. 23 holiday weeks, 15 resorts in 10 European countries - most often the Italian and French Alps - and I never had more fun, or progressed so much as at Sierra, March 2009.

Thank you so much. For a smallish resort, with only 3 main lifts, Sierra offers an amazing variety of terrain. Lower Main, Clipper and the Smokey Boarder X probably my favourites, and loads more to do as my skills progress. Wonderful snow: even after days of glorious sunshine…Sierra was still ski-able.

Everyone at Sierra - from the lifties to the cleaner at the main lodge [nice clean rest rooms!] - was friendly, kind and helpful. I felt at home from the start, whether skiing with my son Sharney [first season ski instructor in Wild Mountain - great opportunity for him!], on my own or with friends made on the slopes: I never felt lonely.

Ski school was ace: a 3 pack of lessons with Randy, Mike then Steve sorted bad habits and got me skiing much better. Thank you guys. The icing on the cake was the Women's Camp. Thank you Joanne and Emma, and Kevin for making it happen. I learned so much and my skiing has improved beyond recognition: what an amazing experience - every woman should do it. I promise I will be back, and next year I will get new boots.

"P.S. And how about this: back home and at work, ski addicts talking in the kitchen - discover a colleague just had 3 days in Tahoe this February.

Did Heavenly, Squaw and Sierra and rated Sierra the best!"

Aloha,
Just recently I brought 10 people from Lanai Hawaii to Sierra, where we come from there is only about 2000 people, very family oriented and pretty much everyone knows everyone. I wanted to say that from March 1st thru March 9th Snowboarding at Sierra was Awesome, ur Staff was very helpful and warm to us Hawaiians-lots of Aloha.

This will be a yearly event bringing Hawaiians to the snow, and absolutely will be going to Sierra.

As the day approached I could feel the anticipation of excitement and nervousness creep over my body. Approaching Sierra this just grew. I was greeted by Kemp Dowdy and Kevin Mitchell who were as professional as well as personal as they come. After a safety talk and a statement that they would be in control of where we skied, my anxiety subsided.

Off we went to gate 3 and did some exploring, getting use to the conditions we were going to encounter.. Kevin and Kemp coached us well down some tight areas and prepared us for our next journey.

We next went to gate 5 and after hiking about 10 minutes we came upon heaven. Breathtaking views of the lake and the Sierras and totally virgin champagne powder. It was a totally unbelievable sight and to think that we were going to ski this was the biggest rush. Then the run and the total exhilaration. It was nothing I have ever encountered before. In fact my partner said that it was comparable to Heli skiing just that we had to hike.

Our second run was through gate 4 and into Pandoras box. After checking the conditions by Kevin, he gaves us the OK and we skied a magnificent chute into pristine snow and then totally virgin glades. It was like we had the mountain to ourselves. I have been skiing for 45 years and never had a better day and never felt the high I got this day. It is something to not be missed. Thanks to Kevin and Kemp for giving me my most memorable ski experience.

My family visited Sierra-at-Tahoe for our first ski trip - ever, and had a wonderful time. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and gracious (when we - noobies - didn't do things quite right). The snow and skiing were phenomenal. The beauty of the Sierra Nevada mountains is breathtaking - especially from the top of Huckleberry mountain. The lift and rental prices were the best of any of the resorts in the Lake Tahoe area.

I'm excited to make Sierra-at-Tahoe an annual trip for my family, and would love to bring friends along with us. Looking forward to next year!

Fast Pass...Great Idea! My wife (who unlike the kids and I doesn't prefer to ride/downhill ski, and therefore doesn't have a season pass) used one of the Vertical Plus mid-week passes along with the Fast Pass, which enabled all of us to use the Vertical Plus lines together. Brilliant. Conditions were superb and she had a great time.

February 25, 2009 - Great Job Dayna!

Dayna in HR was absolutely excellent in allowing us to use her fax machine to complete a small but important business matter. She really took good care of us. We were staying at a friends cabin about a mile away, so it saved us having to go down to Meyers or Pollack Pines.

Guys, I want to thank you for doing such an outstanding job updating the web site!  It is by far the most informative and overall best site of a ski resort that I have seen in a long time. All information is easily available, there are no pointless pictures and no ads flashing in your face. The site is tasteful, the color design is pleasing, and the informational content is just outstanding.

I was very impressed with the articles on powder safety and lessons for young kids. Great job, thanks!

Our group of 5 families (20) just returned from a weekend at Sierra.  This is an annual trip we take to Tahoe and visiting Sierra was our first time.  Our group was made up of first time snowboarding lesson takers, beginner to average snowboarders, skiers, and some just hung out in the lodge with a good book and good conversation.

As we turned into the road leading up to the resort, we were greeted by very efficient traffic controllers directing us to our parking space. Then we were met with greeters welcoming us to Sierra and asking if we needed help in directing us to the right place. Our group interacted with many of your staff members from instructors, ticket sellers, food service people, etc. and we were so pleased that your staff was courteous, friendly, and helpful.

Your resort is extremely clean and we noticed that staff was constantly emptying garbage, wiping and cleaning. Our group is truly appreciative of the efforts your staff has gone to make our first visit so memorable. And to end a perfect day, we were again greeted by staff thanking us for coming to Sierra.  Please let your staff know what an awesome job they are doing and to keep up the good work!  Our group enjoyed our visit so much that we are seriously considering next year's trip at Sierra!!

I have been coming to Sierra for about 10 years, and I love it.  The long, wide beginner slope, Broadway, and it's adjoining lift, Easy Rider Express, offer beginners the best area to learn and practice and take lessons. The staff is one of the main reasons I keep coming back.  Friendly, helpful, and genuine. The [ski school] instructors are knowledgeable, helpful, and genuinely interested in their students.

On the snowy days, the FREE shuttle up from South Lake Tahoe is convenient and quick. The view on the way up is spectacular too. I say thanks Sierra for all the great times and "break-out days" you have given me, and thanks for keeping your prices affordable.

I have been skiing here since I was 8 years old, and in my 7 years of skiing, Sierra has always been a great experience.  It is definitely better than any Tahoe resort because you can find any type of run you want - trees (top 10 in the US), bumps, steep groomed runs...plus there's the awesome staff and great food.  So, all in all, if you want something while skiing, Sierra is guaranteed to have it.

Two weeks ago, I had the chance to do a winemaker's luncheon at the Grand View Lodge on the slopes of Sierra at Tahoe.  It was a small, personal luncheon pairing five of our wines with Sierra's great barbeque.  It was a steal at $15/person.  But the best part was the view.  From atop the lodge on this crystal clear day, I could see the entire Lake Tahoe basin one way and the coastal range looking the other way.  It was spectacular!  If you haven't made it up skiing this year yet, the snow is great and the view even better!

I have skied all of (South Lake Tahoe) for many years. I must say that Sierra has more steep terrain & consistently more snow.  Our family prefers Sierra over (the other resorts) by far.  Sierra has more steep tree skiing/boarding & is just generally more fun.

As a snow snob, storm tracking, powder hound, I put the rest of my life on hold when a good storm hits.  I live for powder days, especially on stormy days.

I've been to all the Tahoe resorts and adopted Sierra-at-Tahoe as my "home resort" because it delivers!  Sierra absolutely has the best and longest tree skiing lines in all of Tahoe, which is so important on a storm day. Without trees, you're essentially in a white-out, unable to see much of anything. Sierra's trees provide much needed contrast during blizzard conditions, as well as excellent wind protection.  This enables continuous choking-on-powder-while-grinning-ear-to-ear runs all day!

My second favorite Sierra attraction is the abundance of "pillows."  I've never been to a resort that has more snow covered boulders everywhere.  On a good powder day (and even 3 days after a storm), you can launch off pillow after pillow, and enjoy soft landings almost every time.  It's heaven!

Sierra has the goods.  On storm days, it's the place to be.

I've been snowboarding at Sierra for years. I usually go on midweek powder days. At Sierra, you can get fresh tracks all day in the trees. Most other resorts get tracked out by noon. You guys have by far the best tree runs of any resort in Tahoe. I have a friend who would only go to Sugar Bowl on powder days, and one perfect day, I was driving, and when we hit the hwy 50/80 split, and I took the 50 toward Sierra. He goes "what are you doing?!. I said "I'm driving, we're going to Sierra." He was upset, until we dropped into our first tree run from Grandview, carving perfect powder in the trees from top to bottom, getting spit out right near the chair. At the bottom, he says "wow, let's keep doing that one", and I said, "that's just one of about twenty or thirty top to bottom tree runs here." Long story short ,by the end of the day Sierra was, and is, his new powder day spot.

And the backcountry stuff is unreal, and extends any good freshies as it's usually not open the first day after a good dump. So even when in bounds is tracked out , you can still get fresh for a couple more days in the backcountry.  The only thing that would improve the resort is if they could do another chair off the back area of west bowl, where there's some insane semi out of bounds terrain that you have to hike out of if you do it.

Overall, an awesome resort.

I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful time my wife and I had at your resort last winter.  We skied 3 days at Sierra while we were in the Tahoe area on vacation and it was a great experience.  We both took private lessons, her on alpine equipment and I on telemark equipment.  The instructors were very professional, courteous, and had a wealth of knowledge.  I found it particularly wonderful that I was able to take a telemark lesson.  Being from the Midwest there really isn't any opportunity local for such an experience.  Thank you again for a great vacation and I look forward to visiting your resort again soon.

I've been skiing the Sierra for over 30 yrs. now and have settled on my favorite resort, Sierra at Tahoe. Best of the closest skiing to the Bay Area. I'm on skis 3 hours and 15 minutes from walking out of my house. Sierra has the best groomers! Always perfection! Everything at the mountain is so convenient, from the parking lot to the ski in ski out bathrooms.  I love that all the staff is very friendly, accommodating, and welcoming. I always feel great after a day there. I had a flat on day after skiing and a passing employee changed my tire! Awesome! They really go the extra mile to give you a great skiing experience. I love Sierra!

You know many sites boast their "service", However Sierra-At-Tahoe fulfills it.  From Guest services, to the ski rentals, to the instructors, to the Sports Shop, to the MOUNTAIN PATROL!!(who rescued my son), to the nurse and the doctors. Sierra Ski Ranch provides friendly, informative, service-- enjoyed our two days there!!

My wife and I learned to ski at Sierra back when it was still called Sierra Ski Ranch. After taking time to get married, jobs and start a family, our happy memories as kids encouraged us to bring our own kids back to ride the Tahoe King.  Little did we know that the old "ranch" is now the new Sierra that is even more welcoming and family friendly. After the 4th season in a row, we are happy to report the Sierra Ski School has taught all 3 of my boys to ski and with one more on the way we won't mind making the 16 hour drive from Arizona next season (or Spring break if I'm lucky!) to ski the friendliest slopes in the Sierras.

Gretchen's son's English assignment:

"Sierra at Tahoe, aside from some lucky girl, is my true love. The beautiful views, the mesmerizing sounds, the hypnotizing feels, the astonishing aromas and the taste of a ski resort. Whether your there to shred the powder like a pro, or hang out and have a good time, you know you’re going to feel the love. So bask in it, bask in the sights, the scents, the sounds and the tastes. How it feels, I mean all of it. If you experience Sierra at Tahoe, you just can’t get enough...."  Read on >

Very helpful, friendly employees.  I signed my son up for a snowboard lesson.  The instructor greeted us, and immediately engaged my son.  I felt very comfortable leaving him in the capable hands of your staff.  Sierra at Tahoe really takes care of their students.  We will definitely be back, and recommend you to all our friends!
