"Successful programs provide an atmosphere for young children to learn the skills that will build a foundation for their futures beyond skiing and riding. Creative thinking, problem solving, goal setting, positive social interaction, time management, discipline and hard work are just a few of the skills that Sierra™ Resort will encourage athletes to develop.
Naturally, children in any program will face challenges. I believe those who face the challenges head-on should be rewarded whether or not they succeed. From failure comes opportunity and growth, both on and off the hill. We teach children to appreciate challenges, viewing them as opportunities to reach their potential.
Sport is the medium in which our coaches work. We capture a child’s attention and provide a point of focus. For a child with a dream, focus and motivation are boundless. Sierra Resort’s goal is to allow our children to see the possibilities that lie ahead. We will provide exceptional training with individual attention, helping each skier/rider reach their fullest potential on and off the slope."
To develop skilled skiers/riders that make the mountain lifestyle part of their future, while enhancing their skills to tackle the world.
To participate in the program every participant should be able to independently get on and off the chairlift, and be able to stay in control and make turns on green runs. If they are not ready for Rippers a 10-pack of lessons from Wild Mountain might be more appropriate.
Please be on time! We encourage all participants to arrive early so they can be ready to go with the team. All teams will depart at 10:00 am sharp. Coaches will take 1 lap back through the meeting area. After that time it will be the responsibility of the parents to find the coach. We meet in front of first-aid, which is next to Wild Mountain.
Please provide your kids with nutritious, hearty breakfasts before arriving AND high energy snacks to keep in their pockets. If you had an early breakfast it is a good idea to have the children eat a snack just as you’re pulling into the parking lot.
You are responsible for your child’s lunch. The coaches can take a small bag lunch for the day, but they will not accept money. If you are not going to prepare lunch please give your kids lunch money! All season passes holders can load money onto a food card in the vertical plus office (THIS GIVES YOU A 20% DISCOUNT!). Lunch will last about 30 minutes depending on weather and age. You are welcome to join them for lunch but we ask that you be respectful of the “team”. The children must stay close as this makes it easer to get going after lunch. Lunch will begin at approximately 11:30 a.m. to beat the lunch crowd. Coaches will record the general area where they will be skiing/riding and the lunch location on the white boards (located next to the meeting area.)
Ripper pick-up is located at the drop off spot, please be there at 3:00pm.
Provide any medical information to Coaches or Ripper staff in case of any emergencies.
Check weather reports and CalTrans the night before and just before departing.
During the season, you will have 12 training sessions. Make-up days are scheduled in the case of a cancellation*. Please refer to the link below for the schedule:
*Cancellation will occur if the road is closed or mountain operations are limited due to extensive snow.
