ABOUT SOUTH LAKE TAHOE

If you are into expanding your horizons, we've got a community college offering everything from Art History to Yoga. And that's just what you can do around the lake! Reno and Sacramento are both just a 1.5 hour car ride away, and San Francisco is 3.5 hours down the road. At Sierra Resort, you're right in the middle of things!
 
South Lake Tahoe, California, the closest city to Sierra Resort, is located on the border of California and Nevada.  While South Lake Tahoe is known for its 4 major casinos, it is also a thriving town. South Lake Tahoe offers great restaurants, bars, live entertainment, movie theaters, a recreation complex with swimming, ice-skating, health club facilities, and a public library with access to the Internet.

GETTING TO SOUTH LAKE TAHOE

Planes, trains, automobiles, or snowboard, we don’t care how you get to Sierra Resort, as long as you make it!  We are located 12 miles west of South Lake Tahoe (about 100 miles east of Sacramento) on U.S. Highway 50, at the top of Echo Summit . The nearest airports in California are Sacramento International Airport or San Francisco International Airport, or you can fly into the Reno/Tahoe International Airport in Reno, Nevada.

If you fly in to one of these cities, you should be able to reach South Lake Tahoe by rental car, bus, or airport shuttle (from the Reno airport).  The most recognizable landmark in South Lake is Harvey's Casino, which has many cheap hotels nearby. If you get lost, or just want general travel information, give Sierra Employee Services Department a call (the number is listed below), and let them know when you expect to arrive in South Lake Tahoe.

HOUSING ASSISTANCE

Rental Reward Program

Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort's “Rental Rewards” program was developed to assist our employees in locating affordable housing.  We invite any interested community member that has a room, apartment, or townhouse to rent to consider participating in our Rental Rewards program.  Hotel or motel managers will not qualify for this program.  A valid lease is required upon collection of voucher.

Employee participation in this program is voluntary and employees are solely responsible for all contractual agreements with landlords/homeowners.  

• To qualify for tickets, rental properties must be posted in Sierra-at-Tahoe Human Resources Department prior to filling the rental unit.
• 10 tickets will be given for the first employee at each housing unit (physical address), and 5 tickets for each additional employee housed at the same address.
• Tickets are not available to homeowners with pre-existing housing agreements with Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort employees.  Season Passes will not be refunded in lieu of lift ticket vouchers.
• Ticket vouchers are valid Sunday - Friday during non-holiday periods. Vouchers are non-refundable, and non-transferable for other resort services.  Vouchers can not be carried over to following seasons.
• Homeowners must call the Employee Services department at 530.659.7453 x147 to inform us of the employee(s) they are housing.  After receiving a signed copy of the lease agreement and confirming that the individual(s) are Sierra employees, tickets will be released.
• Sierra  Resort retains the right to exclude listings or change program guidelines based on certain restrictions.
• If you feel that you are not receiving an acceptable number of calls regarding your rental unit, you may call Employee Services and change the price or conditions of your rental listing at any time.
