2008.09 Sierra™ Team Competition Results
What's better than wrapping up the season with a spring time pipe jam? Thanks to Tyson's pipe building and cutting mastery, Sierra's Superpipe was primed for the jam and outfitted with a new bell jib and a pinata filled with cash. This wasn't your run-of-the-mill contest but more of a free for all. With an 09/10 Season Pass, snowboards from Option and DC, and prizes from Dragon, Nikita, Dakine, and a cash at stake, riders and skiers weren't just playing in the sun. Yeah, we checked out the best overall, but the big props went to those who rang the bell and busted big airs.

The entire crew at Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort put their heads and hearts together in support of the 3rd Annual Buckle Up Big Air in memory of Greg Smith and spread awareness of seatbelt safety. With a $2,400 purse and tons of awesome product from sponsors and supports, skiers and riders came from all over the lake in an attempt to cash in on a piece of the prize.
The slopestyle course was perfect- large, showcase features for the big dogs and a flowing jib/jump line for the up-and-comers. The contest kicked off with all the competitors riding through the course in a train - a yearly tribute to a deeply missed friend and athlete. Once the judging began, the jams were smoking, even with an impending storm making the light flat and the speed slow.
The Sierra crew made some of the biggest impressions of the day. Young team members Geoff Smith and Maddie Bowman both took first in their divisions. At just 15, Geoff's sick style over the table tops was impressive. Stacie Anderson, riding her winning wave, showed the ladies how it's done on the big jumps. The action really heated up in the Open Divisions. Ty Dayberry won the big bucks in the Skiing division...on tele skis! Sierra regular Jordan Nield charged the course, as usual. Big thanks to all the volunteers, supporters, and competitors- all the registration fees, raffle sales, and food sales go towards building a custom rail feature in Greg's memory.
Three years of great support has allowed us to debut the feature next season!

The Billabong ladies hit Sierra Resort with the 6th stop of their Flaunt It series. The all female amateur contest brought girls in from all over the globe- New Zealand, Norway, Colorado, Canada, even Hawaii. The conditions were sunny and warm, a perfect recipe for big spins in the morning on Upper Bashful during the slopestyle jam and jib pressing during the afternoon rail jam on Lower Bashful.
As usual, the Anderson ladies made their statement. Stacie won the slope jam with smooth spins on the jumps, Nora took home the best grom prize, and Jamie was there to support her sisters. Local ripper Becky Bruce won the rail jam.

Sierra-at-Tahoe hosted it's own electrified contest on January 31. Celebrating Sierra' Circuit Parks, this slopestyle contest was held on the Bashful park. The course was lookin' sweet with every type of rail feature you could want and a triple jump line that was smooth like butter.
Team members Geoff Smith, Garrett Moulton and Randal Seaton rocked the contest in the name of Sierra. Thanks to our sponsors for their support and hookin' our winners up with rad prizes: Option Snowboards, Dragon Optics, Dakine, Sessions, Nikita, Fuel TV, Red Bull, and DC.

Volcom hosted the first contest to hit Lake Tahoe this season at Sierra on January 3rd. The set up was sick, the turn out was amazing, and the tricks were creative to say the least. Sierra's own Asa Martinez rocked the three-rail zone and finished second in the Open Division. Congrats!
