FREE Backcountry Tours

The Extreme for FREE!

New for 2009.10, expert skiers and riders will have a whole new way to experience Huckleberry Canyon, Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort's double black diamond terrain. Free backcountry tours will take qualified skiers and riders out the five gates every Friday afternoons at 10:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m., when conditions allow.

How long is it?

This one hour tour will introduce skiers and riders to the terrain, offer advice on various lines, chutes and drops, and give directions on when and where to exit the Canyon. Huckleberry Canyon offers cliff drops, cornices, rock chutes, open bowls, gladed runs, and powder pillows galore.

What do I get?

Valid lift ticket or season pass is required. Free Backcountry Tours include all backcountry equipment (probe, shovel, avalanche beacon and backpack). Snowshoe rentals (for snowboarders, if needed) and powder ski demos are available at a 50% discount through the Rental Shop for tour participants.

Sign me up, man!

Reservations are required and can be made by calling 530.659.7453 x150.

But I want more!

Unleash your extreme and sign up for Sierra's Backcountry Lessons for a longer, more in-depth experience - just $33 per lesson with a 3-Pak!
