Huckleberry Canyon is lauded by Tahoe locals as some of the steepest and deepest terrain in the Lake Tahoe basin. Adult skiers and snowboarders who would like to venture out one of the five gates into Huckleberry Canyon but would like to go with a guide can take advantage of the Backcountry Lesson.

 

The Lesson

Huckleberry CanyonThis 2.5-hour advanced group lesson for adults (ages 18 and over) will leave from the top of Grandview at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, conditions permitting*. All backcountry equipment is included. Snowshoes (for snowboarders, if needed) and fat skis are available at a discount through ski rental for the day. A valid lift ticket or season pass is required.

 

The Backcountry Lesson will focus on an introduction to backcountry equipment, route selection and skier/rider improvement. Participants will be given required backcountry equipment during the lessons, and can get snowshoes (for snowboarders, if needed) and fat skis at a discount through ski rental for the day.

 

Reservations

The cost is $49 for a single group lesson or $33/lesson with a Backcountry Lesson 3-Pak. The opportunity to experience some of the premiere backcountry terrain in North America at this price makes this one of the best deals in the ski world. (Private and Semi Private Backcountry Lessons for any day are available upon request.)

 

Reservations are required by dialing 530.543.3150 and is limited to 7 skiers and riders levels 7 or above. All backcountry equipment is included. Snowshoes (for snowboarders, if needed) and fat skis are available at a discount through ski rental for the day.
