“The fact that two employees who started their careers as J-1 visa employees were chosen as this year’s Golden and Silver Eagle winners highlights the importance of international employees to Sierra Resort,” said John Rice, General Manager of Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort, “Clara and Dolores are perfect examples of why we love to bring in college students from other countries. Taking the Bronze Eagle this year was Noel Manalo, a member of Sierra Resort’s Vehicle Maintenance team. Manalo came to Sierra Resort after a career working for local automotive dealers, “I had heard this was a great place to work and they had heard I was a great mechanic. It was just one of those things that happens in a small town with a tight group of people,” laughs Manalo. When asked how he feels about winning, Manalo becomes very humble, “I was totally surprised. I’m used to being behind the scenes; I never expected that so many of my co-workers recognized what I do to help keep the resort running smoothly.” Manalo came from the Phillipines with his family when he was just five years old. He now lives here with his partner, Laura Peralta, and their three children, Jake, 25, Joe, 20, and Jenna, 19 along with four dogs and two cats.
