Sierra-at-Tahoe is the location for the inaugural Sierra Recon long-distance obstacle race on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 9am hosted by Tahoe Tri Club.
This spectator-friendly course starts, travels through, and ends at our base area, letting family and friends witness the mayhem (unlike other courses where racers are usually out of sight for hours) from the Tiki Deck while drinks are poured and music is played!
This race has it all. Elevation. Walls. Beams. Ropes. Nets. Ice. Slip-n-slide. Plenty-o-mud. And more...much more. Plus a kid-sized version!
Register: please visit SierraRecon.com to register or for full race details. Like Sierra Recon on Facebook, share with your friends, and start your team!
Race Details:
Distance: 4-8 miles...depends on your mood! (1/2 mile or 1 mile for the kids' groups.)
Elevation: 6640' - plan on climbing over 3000' during the race.
Teams: Solo, 2 person, 4 person, or 6+ person
Schwag: T-shirt, Cowbell, Commemorative Drinking Vessel
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Green Circle Course
For first-time racers (or those who haven't had enough time to get out and train), this level is for you. 4ish miles with 8-10 obstacles and only about 1000' of elevation gain. It will still be challenging, muddy and a bit of gnar, but you'll be back at the Tiki Bar drinking before you can say "I'm ready to sign up for next year!"
Blue Square Course
Choose this category if you're active and enjoy a challenge, but aren't 100% committed to serious elevation gain, mileage and the super-gnarly obstacles. This course is 6ish miles with 12-15 obstacles and about 1500' of elevation gain. This is not an easy way out - just not ridiculously stupid like the Black Diamonds.
Black Diamond Course
For those who are super-fit (or plain just masochistic). 8+ miles, 20+ obstacles and over 3000' of elevation gain. This course includes the gnarliest, most painful, stupid-crazy obstacles on the mountain. If you got wide-eyed and butterflied at the description, then this is the right course for you!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kids Ages 4-7 Course
For the future mudder! 1/2 mile and 4 obstacles to grind their teeth on!
Kids Ages 7-14 Course
To get them hooked on obstacles early! 1 mile and 8-10 obstacles to tear up.
